Where is Luna?

A sweet black Scottish Terrier (a dog) running quickly and franticly across the street as cars stop to let her pass. She looks confused. Where should she go now? She continues to run down the street darting across it again as people stop and try to help her. But the terrier in her doesn’t allow her to focus on the help everyone wants to give her. She is focused on all the places to run. Her speed picks up as she runs uphill through the green ivy and thick patches of trees as she disappears around the corner. Her human mother runs toward the corner yelling “Luna! Luna!”. But Luna can’t be seen.
House dogs don’t have the street smarts that cats do. They don’t understand that cars can hit them or that they most likely won’t find their way back home. Like children, they are vulnerable and naive. That’s one of the many things that make them so lovable and it’s why you feel so compelled to protect them. That’s why so many people stopped in the middle of the road and even got out of the car to help.
Puchchu and I were two of the many people who stopped to help Luna and then did our best to help her human mother before we had to leave. My heart broke when I saw her running around frantically. Puchchu had barely stopped the car before I had the door open and was ready to leap out. All I could think about were the Scottie dogs, Maggie and Pepper, I’d had in the past who also got out of the backyard. Then there is our escape artist, Bart, who can find a way out when the will is there. Of course he can usually be found at the local swimming pool. Go figure.
